Welcome to ISD Cyber Academy

ISD Cyber Academy

Consider what our school district has to offer compared to commonly chosen private cyber charter schools.

Þ    SCHOOL PERFORMANCE PROFILE:  Pennsylvania schools are evaluated using the School Performance Profile (SPP). The SPP utilizes many data points to measure each school’s academic strength. Each school’s SPP score is based on standardized test scores, graduation rate, attendance rate, and AP course offerings. Since the School Performance Profile has been used to evaluate schools, not a single cyber charter school in Pennsylvania has ever achieved the minimum progress score of 70. Check the score for your student’s school listed below.

Þ    USE OF FUNDS:  Private cyber charter schools are for profit. Profit, not student progress, is their focus. The largest expense of The Commonwealth Charter Academy in 2016-2017 was advertising where they spent $4.4 million. That’s $4,400,000 for billboards, TV ads and radio ads. Iroquois School District uses all available funds to continuously improve the educational experience for all students.

Þ    SPECIALTY SERVICES:  On average, in the for-profit cyber school programs listed above, fewer than 1% are gifted students and fewer than 23% are special education students.  Iroquois School District offers Gifted and Special Education programs that have individual case managers who are personally involved with the students to monitor the progress and adjust the instruction to meet the needs of the students. Maybe this is why on average, the for- profit cyber school dropout rate is 11.3% compared to ours which is 0.73%.

Þ    ISD CYBER ACADEMY: Iroquois offers its own cyber school which follows the curriculum of our district. Students in this program receive an Iroquois School District diploma whereas private cyber charter school students receive what is equivalent to a Pennsylvania GED.  Additionally, private cyber charter schools do not monitor graduation credits/requirements which means this responsibility falls solely on the student and parents. Are you monitoring your child’s credit summary to assure s/he is on track to receive the cyber diploma/GED equivalent on time?

Þ    NEW PROGRAMS:  Students at Iroquois have a greater opportunity for growth than ever before with new courses like STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Technical Musical Composition, Sports and Entertainment Marketing, Materials Processing, Robotics, Video Game Design, Computer Programming and Coding, and Forensic Science to aid in career exploration to prepare our students for life beyond high school.

We welcome the opportunity to explore what we can provide for your student and how we can meet your needs. Iroquois Cyber Academy is available to students in grades 4-12. Please contact Mrs. Amy Hartleb to schedule an appointment and start the re-enrollment process today.
